Legion Hardware — (Gigabyte GeForce PCX 5900)
"Up until now I was under the impression that the FX5900XT core was no more. However, with the release of the Gigabyte GeForce PCX 5900 XT this could all change. Although I am a little disappointed to find that this is in fact not a genuine 5900 GPU featured on the Gigabyte GeForce PCX 5900. The FX5900XT is an excellent solution and as I mentioned, is a killer overclocker."

SATA RAIDing With Maxtor @ Bjorn3D
"RAIDing — it´s what pirates and vikings do... no, wait, this is a computer hardware and software review site, so that´s probably the wrong kind of RAID. How about a Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks? Yeah, that´s more like it. For those unfamiliar with the term, RAID systems require at least two hard drives, and they allow for two main benefits over single drive configurations — increased performance and fault tolerance. Well, that´s the simple way to look at it at least."

Editorial: Flat Enough but not Black Enough @ Designtechnica
" "New display technologies are redefining high-end video while prices continue to plummet. Recently I stood in a room full of new digital TVs from a major manufacturer and watched as a 42-inch set listing for $6999 was far outperformed by a 46-inch set selling for $1499. That was no surprise to me, but it may be to some of you. Don’t blame the manufacturer. In this case it was Hitachi, which makes some of the best DTVs out there. Because the company is vertically integrated—making many of the parts that go into its products—Hitachi exercises an unusual amount of control over the performance of its television line. You could actually say, as the old song does, that nobody does it better."

DH News: Philips PSC724 Ultimate Edge
"What we have today is called the Philips PSC724 Ultimate Edge. Last September I was given the chance to write on the Philips Aurilium external sound card and in this article today I´ll be pitting this new blood against both the Aurilium and the M-Audio Revolution 7.1 sound cards. While the Aurilium is an external sound card, we´ll be paying most of our attention to the sound quality and not the performance of that particular product. This should give us an idea of where the PSC724 falls compared to last years technology as well as, what is still considered one of the best consumer audio cards available, the Revolution 7.1."

DH Article: Low end GFX shootout
"Not everyone has the finances to be able to purchase high end graphics hardware and even those who do sometimes run an inexpensive second system in another room for their children. The hardware ill be looking at today is classed as the "bargain basement" of GFX hardware and features two Nvidia cards from Aopen and one from HIS based on ATI technology. Im going to be running all three cards through their paces in a variety of yesterdays and todays games and ill even try a little Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering on some titles to see how they hold up."

Bluetooth GPS Navigation System @ BIOS
"In a new move for the company, Belkin has launched a Bluetooth GPS Navigation System for laptops and PDAs. The solution comprises a battery-powered (rechargeable lithium-polymer) Bluetooth GPS Receiver and proprietary navigation software. Neat features of the software allow you to choose destinations by address, intersection, point of interest, or contacts. It also offers dynamic re-route and detour options, provides four types of map views, alerts you to speed and elevation levels, and allows you to record trips for future playback. The solution supports systems running Windows ME or later and Pocket PC. The Bluetooth GPS Receiver will work with Palm T1, T2, T3, Sony Clie PEG-NC90, PEG-TG50 and Mac OS X platforms, but the software won´t. Unfortunately, you don´t get a vehicle power adapter, vehicle mounting brackets, or an armband for outdoor personal use. Nevertheless, it´s worth a look, along with those from Navman".

Thru-Glass touchscreen computer @ BIOS
"Those who run a high-street retail store may be interested in Data Vision´s latest device, a touchscreen computer that allows retailers to advertise their products 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The 15in. LCD monitor with built-in computer operates on touchscreen principles which, like a traditional display, can be used purely to run an advertising carousel or utilised interactively, enabling customers to browse your Web site, access application procedures, virtually view your merchandise, or even purchase goods out of hours. The display provides a super bright picture (1700cd/cm²), which should be bright enough on even the brightest of days. The device comes fully supplied with all the necessary power cables and wire mountings and the company will install it, too."

Plextor PX-712A DVD Burner @ Bjorn3D
"Over the past few years, Plextor has become a name that is synonymous with high-quality and high-performance optical storage drives. Plextor seems to try to always be in the lead or at least tied for the lead in the CD and DVD burner speed races. Regardless of where the company stands in the performance races, Plextor always provides a rich set of features with its drives. With features like PoweRec, which optimizes laser power and writing speed based on the media in the drive, and buffer underrun proof technology, which helps prevent the drive from making the dreaded CD coaster, Plextor offers optical storage devices that provide a lot of worry-free operation."

Sapphire Radeon X800 Pro @ TrustedReviews
"Given that Sapphire traditionally sticks to the ATI reference design, I was slightly surprised to see that this card is using a blue PCB rather than the traditional ATI red. Other than the colour though, this board is pretty much identical to the reference boards that I’ve tested. There’s a copper heatsink and fan assembly covering the VPU, but it’s small enough to keep the card a single slot solution. A single Molex connector provides the X800 Pro with enough power to operate, while the backing plate sports a DVI connecter, a D-SUB port and an video output."

Pioneer DV-563A DVD player review @ Designtechnica
"Pioneer’s DV-653A progressive scan DVD player brings high-end video and audio to the mid-level price range. At under $200 (and even under $150 if you look hard enough), the player really provides a lot punch. With support for digital audio and even JPEG images, it easily handled every audio and video format that we tried, and we tried them all. True audiophiles may shy away from the DV-563A because of its "low price" alone, but this just might be one of those rare products in which its value far exceeds its cost."
